Terms of service

Draft of October 11, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and [legal entity to be confirmed] ("we", "us") for using Goodhours. We've tried to write them the way we'd explain them to a friend. By creating an account you agree to them.

The service

Goodhours is a planning app: goals and milestones, a daily plan, a Focus timer, a weekly review, and AI features that suggest plans and answer questions. It runs in your browser and installs as an app on your phone and desktop. We keep improving it, which means features can change.

Your account

  • You need to be at least 16 and give us a working email address.
  • Keep your sign-in secure. You're responsible for what happens in your account, and you should tell us quickly at [contact email to be confirmed] if you think someone else has access.
  • One account is for one person.

The beta

During the private beta, Goodhours is free. The beta runs for about 6 weeks from its launch. Beta software can have rough edges, so please keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose (export is always available). Before billing starts, beta users get 14 days' notice and a 14-day trial, so nobody is cut off on the spot, and they are eligible for the founding price.

Trial

New accounts get a 14-day trial with everything included. No card is needed to start. We remind you in the app and by email 3 days and 1 day before it ends. If you don't subscribe, your account becomes read-only (see "If your plan ends").

Plans and prices

There is one plan with everything included, billed monthly or yearly. The founding price is $10/month or $99/year. The planned standard price is $199/year after the founding offer ends on [date to be announced], at which point new subscribers pay the standard price. The $199/year figure is a planned future price, not a price we have charged before.

Founding price

  • Anyone whose first paid subscription starts before the founding offer ends is a founding member.
  • Founding members keep their price for as long as they stay subscribed, including when switching between monthly and annual, and during the payment grace period below.
  • If a subscription lapses (it was cancelled and the paid period ended, or a failed payment was never resolved), the founding price ends. Subscribing again after that is at the standard price.

Taxes

Taxes are calculated by Stripe. Where the law requires it, including in the EU and the UK, prices are shown including tax.

Billing, renewal and cancelling

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel.
  • Annual reminder. We email you 7 days before every annual renewal.
  • Cancel in two clicks in the app, through Stripe's billing portal. You keep full access until the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Refunds. Annual plans get a full refund if you ask within 14 days of paying or renewing. Outside that window, and for monthly plans, we don't give partial refunds.
  • Price changes. We give at least 30 days' notice before any price change applies to you, and price changes never apply to founding members while they stay subscribed.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails, you keep full access for a 7-day grace period while Stripe retries and we email you. If it still can't be collected, your account becomes read-only.
  • Deleting your account cancels any subscription immediately. The annual refund rule above still applies.

If your plan ends

When a trial ends without a subscription, or a cancelled plan reaches the end of its period, your account becomes read-only: you can see and export everything, but you can't add new items or use AI features. We keep your data for 12 months, then delete it after a 30-day notice email. Subscribing at any point restores full access.

AI features and fair use

AI features suggest plans, break down goals and answer questions. Suggestions can be wrong, so they're always labeled and never change your plan until you keep them. Treat them as advice, not facts.

Your plan includes generous AI use. To keep it fair and the price low, there is a soft monthly limit per account and a rate limit on Ask. Near the limit we tell you in the app; past it, some AI features switch to simpler, non-AI versions until the next month. The core of Goodhours (goals, Today, Focus and review) is never blocked.

Your content

What you put into Goodhours is yours. You give us permission to store, process and display it only so we can run the service for you, including sending the parts a request needs to the providers listed in the privacy policy. We don't claim ownership of it and we don't use it to advertise.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • break the law, or use Goodhours to harm or harass anyone;
  • try to access other people's data or probe, overload or disrupt the service;
  • script or resell access to the AI features, or use them to build a competing model;
  • copy or reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it.

If someone does, we may suspend the account. Unless it's urgent or illegal, we'll warn you first and let you export your data.

Google Calendar and other services

Connecting Google Calendar is optional. We read your events, never change them, and only write to a separate "Goodhours" calendar if you turn that on. Your use of Google's services is also covered by Google's terms. We're not responsible for outages or changes in services we don't run.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using Goodhours and delete your account at any time. We can end these terms or close the service with at least 30 days' notice, and if we close it we'll refund any unused prepaid time and keep export available until the end.

Disclaimers and liability

We work hard to keep Goodhours reliable, but it's provided "as is", without warranties beyond those the law requires. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel before then.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by [governing law to be confirmed]. Questions go to [contact email to be confirmed].
